2026 Calgary Cup Karate Championships The 2026 Calgary Cup Karate Championships will take place on March 14, 2026 and once again will feature a thrilling array of Kyokushin Karate matches, kata, and demonstrations. This year we honour one of students who passed away suddenly this past October, Sempai Doug Potter. Sempai Doug was the longest active training student in Calgary and always showed exemplary spirit in all he did in and out of the Dojo. We are so honoured. to have had him as part of our dojo for so many years. The Calgary Cup Karate Championships is a premier martial arts event that offers something for EVERYONE involved in Kyokushin karate. Whether you have just started or have been training for years, there is a division and opportunity for you. This year the event will be held at Joanne Cardinal Schubert High School in South East Calgary. Registration deadline for officials and competitors will be the end of day Wednesday March 5. Our championship committee is working diligently to ensure that this event surpasses expectations and as always aims to set new standards for martial arts competitions. The weekend promises to be a memorable experience for all who attend. Calgary Cup 2025 was marked with over 350 entries and a very energetic crowd. Once again we will host our annual Calgary Cup Gala an all ages event which is always a great success. Please make plans to join us for the 2026 Calgary Cup Karate Championships on March 14, 2026. In the twenty years since its inception, this event has grown into a premier top-tier competition on the martial arts landscape. Competitors from across North America and Europe have been attracted to the unique flavour of this exciting tournament, which unfailingly delivers its signature blend of dynamic showmanship and respectful tradition, knocking its audience off their feet with excitement and awe. The feeling of the day is truly reflective of the essence that draws so many seekers to Kyokushin karate – an art for the mind, body, and spirit.
